OTD 18 April 1942- Submarine UPHOLDER posted missing, perhaps mined off Tripoli. Unprecedented statement issued by the Admiralty- '...they take this oppurtunity of singling out those of HMS Upholder..such was the standard of skilll and daring that the boat and her officers and men became an inspiration..they may be gone, but their example and inspiration remain'.
