GERMAN MINI SUBS Empty GERMAN MINI SUBS

Post  ex docky Mon Oct 15, 2012 7:23 pm

    Hi,

I am looking for a part built/unstarted rc model of either a Seehund or Biber midget submarine to complete.

Anyone got one hiding under a shelf?

    Thanks

Since there is not one being posted, I thought I would offer this suggestion.
Here is a place you can purchase a Seehund.
    Scale Model Castings
    Peace,
    Tom

Good grief Tom, I've never seen that site or those boats before...amazing boats. I'm particularly fond of that Neger, very interesting looking kit. If I hadn't already committed myself to Matt Thor and the Permit, I think I'd have bought one of those.

    Many thanks for that link.

Hate to be the messenger of bad news but this company has lots of lost back orders and buyer's payments with many unkept promises.

I like Matt and have seen his work, does he offer one of the mini subs?

As a side note, I have ordered from Rick at Scale Model Castings and had great service, the Aluminaut. I am aware of his past and the issues he had, but I was under the impression all was corrected. I hope that is the case.

No Tom, Matt doesn't make a German midget sub, the nearest he gets to that is the Delta submersible...midget yes, but not of the German WW2 era.

I can't wait to get my Permit from Matt, it's been moulded and Matt is now doing some prefabrication work on it for me, it shouldn't be much longer now. I've been assembling all the parts I need for it in readiness for it's arrival, I have practically all I'll need now.

There are numerous cases of customers that haven't received their purchases.
There is rumor of a turnaround but only time will tell.

Richard, I look forward to your build on this. Matt does some wonderful work.

Giovanni, I can't speak to whether or not he made good on his commitments, I had heard that he did, but that is as far as I can validate. All I can speak to is the service I got and he was quick to deliver. So, the term buyer beware needs to be inserted here. And time is the factor that will play out if change was sincere.

There is a used Seehund by Rick that I am trying to get my hands on. It needs some work.....we will see how that plays out.

    Tom,
With the frequent number of second-hand submarine models for sale. I would wait for the desired one to become available for purchase.

Thank you, very good advice Giovanni! I do not hold my breath anymore, if it works out, it works out. This person may come through, but like you said there is more out there. In reality, I have several subs on my plate. The Aluminaut, new SKIPJACK, Revell type VII, and my Type IX (that you and I have talked about). I can stay busy with those.
    Peace,
    Tom
