    Hi One and All
So after a long time out of the game, I was wondering just what we are now using to keep our boats on a level and even keel?

There really is not much sub hardware left on the market, it's become such a niche that it's just not profitable for companies to make the small amount of hardware they are selling so most have closed. just look at all the other submarine forums there is one post every few months, and most links to items dont work anymore because the website that sold it is gone.

This is why we are making active efforts to move onto drone aircraft parts as an alternative to sub levellers as the hardware is functionally the same and readily available. And efforts into newer radio equipment as 27 and 40mhz radios are getting rare and expensive to find parts for.

The downside is that this is all modern computerised equipment so its a very steep learning curve if you havent had any experience with computers or microcontrollers as they require you to load the correct software and configure it before you get anything useful from them since we are adapting it from other fields.

    Hi Fred.

Did you hang onto your 40 MHz gear? (Because that will still serve you well.)

    Hi David

    Hope you are keeping O.K

Yes I still have all my 40MHz gear, in fact I found a 40MHz r/x I got it from Engel here is the link https://engel-modellbau.eu/shop/en/R-C/Receivers-Crystals/Receivers-40MHz/RP8DI-synthesized-receiver-40-MHz-8-channel.html

I was just wondering what we are now using for a leveler as I said my selcom has gone up in smoke, just old age

When I use a leveller (not always) I use a nice little one (LR2 stamp) from Norbert Bruggen (Who sells them for  Euro 75) and sometimes still a DIY one from the late Alf Blake, still showing his genius!
Tim Garrod also does one which has very good reports. (Contact him by pm on here or more quickly on Facebook perhaps.)

Whatever you get will be  a lot smaller than the Salcon!

Good to see from your link that 40MHz gear is still available from Germany and I see that Engel are also selling levellers.

Hope to see you soon. (I'm heading for Bournville a week on Sunday.)

    Hi David
Have a good time at Bournville,
Yes I still miss Alf, he did come up with some great ideas, I will look into the contacts that you have given with regards to the leveller.

    All the best

    Fred
