    Hi All,

Just to let you know that Hein and Marius send their regards.  Marius has had some setbacks recently but is looking forward to Spring!

Hein is well but is planning to cut back on his attendance at shows (mileage! - sounds familiar to model sub enthusiasts!)

He was asking after John W's "Apostoloff" model. (He thought it was mine!)

That model creates a lot of interest and everyone expects a model that "goes" in the water (Hint!)

    Hi,

I can confirm this - it seems that we submarine modellers have had our heyday on model shows and that time has changed. In the past (from the mid 1990ies to about 2010) we had numerous model shows with participation of model submariners and demonstrations in the pools during the exhibitions have been always highlights of the shows. But since then the number of exhibitions in nearby regions has become smaller and going to exhibitions far away instead will cause too much effords in general. And in addition organisers of model exhibitions today have a tendency to invite especially regional modellers just to avoid costs for accomodation and travelling costs.
But nevertheless we still like our hobby even if there would be no exhibitions any more...

More comments (from a pm) on the Apostoloff from Hein (and an English Translation):

A beautiful model! Really a pity, that she is standing only on the table???
At the beginning of the 1960s, the vision for a vehicle that should move in rough terrain such as swamp, mud or sand this principle appeared here on the continent in a magazine. However, there were 2 rolls, which were equipped with "Thread" here. Either ran the rolling in the same direction, so the vehicle on sand (desert) would take, or the role could rotate against each other, so that would be flexible in the swamp.
Whether this vision became a reality, I don't know.
