    Hello
I am looking for building instructions for John R Haynes 1/72 Upholder. Would anyone know where I might obtain these.
    Kind regards.

Sorry to state the obvious but have you contacted John R Haynes?

    https://www.johnrhaynes.com/

(Some lovely models on his website.)

    Upholder build instructions Empty E-mail

Had an e-mail from Mr Haynes stating that there are no instructions for Upholder. All I really need is the bridge details, Looks like I`ll be surfing the web for a while!

    Hi Len,

There is a lot of information (drawings and photos) available for U class submarines of WWII.
Start off by doing a search on this Forum, I suggest.
John Lambert did drawings (They are in Norman Friedman's book.)
The photos on John Hayne's site are a good start too. Brass sheet /soft soldered is quite workable and the thin sheet looks much more scale than say GRP. His models are museum quality though and could be easily messed up!

Presumably you have one of his models and it got damaged?

    Hope this is useful.

    David

    Hello David
Thanks for your reply. I have done some searching but it seems to favour the 3rd group rather than the 2nd. I bought the 1/72 scale hull and etch sheet from "Fleetscale". They also supply the deck gun and a few fittings but not enough to complete the model. This is one area where I need some drawings/plans in order to scratch build. Mr Haynes photos of his Upholder are nice but not sharp enough to pick out minor details. Ive ordered the book you mentioned so that should help a lot and will continue searching. Thanks again for the info.

    Hi Len,

I must admit that Fleetscale are new to me and it is nice to see them doing a British U class. (A personal favourite!)

Let us know how you  get on. Is it to be a static or working model?

    Hi David,
I was talking to one of the Fleetscale team and by the sound of it, it could be the only Submarine hull they produce. Which is a shame. My Upholder will be a static model and sit next to my type VIIc.
