    Hello everyone.
My name is Rob & I live in France. I bought this a couple of weekends ago at a Brocante(car boot/yard sale)& despite spending a good few hours trying know very little about it. It is very well made (to me) & is constructed from wooden planks nailed to internal ribs, the conning tower is metal. I have a couple of scratch built steam locos & R/C planes but have no real idea when it was made- if I had to guess it would be 1930's to 60's. It is approx 70" long & there is nothing much inside except for some "mechanicals" near the propellor end.
Was it scratch built from a plan? Can anybody tell me what sort of Sub it is & from what era?
    Any help gratefully received.
    Many thanks.
    Regards Rob

    Fascinating!

The fin design with it's windows looks Russian. Something from the 1950s??

A bit like a Quebec class ? (But your model does not have saddle tanks.)

    https://www.naval-encyclopedia.com/coldwar/ussr/quebec-class-submarines-1950

You should also try the SubCommitee forum . A lot of real "Cold War Warriors" over there (now retired!)

The large planes on the model suggest she was a dynamic diver. I don't see any signs of torpedo tubes which would help to narrow it down. You may well have a bit of a scratch built freelance - but not the worse for that. Enjoy!

    Hello David.
Many thanks for the information- much appreciated. I got it the other week from a French car boot sale, I walked past it 3 times as it was being sold by a Professional seller & I thought it would be €XXX but it was only €30 so I had to buy it(I really did like it anyway). I will ask the question on the sub committee as you suggested. If I find any thing else about it I will let you know.
    Thanks again.
    Bien cordialement Rob
