    i am seeking a supplier of good linear piston seals - i know i can use o-rings but prefer to use something purpose built

    I have only used O rings in piston tanks. (Largely because of the cost, supply problem with anything else.) (They also work!)

    All I can suggest is falling back on Norbert's "Model submarine technology" book. He mentions Airzet seals.

    If you can come up with some brand names someone may be able to help with a specialist supplier (and please let the Forum know.)

    Simply Bearings are very good for O rings and shaft (oil) seals.
