Hi guys, my name is Ian, i live in Ipswich and have a bit of a thing for LA class boats. I recently bought a MMB 1/80 scale LA. Hopefully she will be in the water around Easter. I will be joining the AMS very soon too.

Re: Just starting out
Well I'm too embarrassed to ask now!
Actually only about 10% of the Forum membership are paid up members so I wouldn't hold it against you if you "lurked" on the Forum for a bit longer. (Mind you £12 a year isn't too much to pay.)
Ipswich - Yes, if I were you I would be thinking about going to the Norwich Model Boat Club sub weekend which we hope they will hold again in 2014.
Modern nukes have to be a good choice for a first sub - single prop, minimal deck gear and fittings to damage, WTC fits in nicely etc.
Welcome!
David
