You're forgiven, David...
Plumpton Model Show was held at Plumpton Racecourse, in deepest Sussex, not too far from Lewes. It was one of the best shows I ever went to, we used to make a week of it. Turn up on Wednesday night with the caravan, Thursday we'd put the pool up and the Fire Brigade would fill it for us, then three days of playing with submarines, supping ale and BBQ's, then Monday would be taking down the pool and clearing up, and home on Tuesday. It was only half an hour or so from home, just right really...arrive, park the car and forget about the real world for a week.
We used to get a really turnout of AMS members...Bernie, Vic and Karen Felton, Alf Blake, Jim Ward, Dave and John Stevens, Derek Battson, Stan Robinson...all the old boys.
Bernie used to stay in our awning, and believe me, he could keep us entertained for the whole weekend! I could tell some stories of his antics during the evenings, especially after 'testing' a few pints of Sussex ale...

It sounds idyllic , Richard.
Shows aren't like that anymore - even the two day ones.
Zoom to hotel - zoom to show - zoom to hotel etc.

We didn't do 'zoom' David...now and again somebody might break into a crawl, but zoom? No way...although there was the time at the Ardingly Show when Bernie (after 'testing' a few pints of Sussex ale) threw my daughter (aged sixteen) into the pool (at about two in the morning) she went back to the caravan, changed into dry clothes, and came back to the bar...she was waylaid on the way and thrown into the pool again.
At this point she gave up and sat in the bar in her swim suit. There was a bit of 'zooming' done by those with cameras...
