what a waste
boring day at work so had time to talk to one of the service engineers who asked me to take 96 yes 96 12v/7amp gell batteries round the scrap yard just came out of some medical trailers we take care of for the nhs and they ask for them to be changed every 12months even though they are never used what a waste of money but at least 12 of them made it to my shed oh and forgot to say they are out of the ups

Re: what a waste
That's a terrible waste, Andy...but at least you found a decent storage place for a few of them. Good man, yourself...I'm proud of you!

Re: what a waste
These are the batteries in question..brilliant for having on the bench for testing motors, wiring, circuit boards, etc. And ideal for those lucky enough to have a big boat...

Re: what a waste
Andy if you have the need of some (short term, probably!) friends.
How about taking a stack of them to the next meeting at Norwich and handing them out to all and sundry.
Or even better ask for a fiver donation to a charity (RNLI?).
And actually I can see the need for changing batteries regularly for a hospital UPS supply. I wouldn't like to be one of those "bleep bleep" machines when the power goes off!

Re: what a waste
Thanks Richard. I've still got a good stock of lead acid batteries.
(They seem to last many years and I use them less frequently now because of Lipos)

Re: what a waste
I tend to use them more and more for holding sticking things down whilst the glue goes off...mind you, these things are pretty heavy, they'd probably flatten anything under them!

Re: what a waste
NEWSFLASH:
My carer just has made my bed and changed the bedsheets...in the process of doing so, she managed to stub her toe on my stock of these batteries.
Batteries...1. Carer's toe...0
She was not best pleased...I'm in trouble now.
