Ron Perrott sent me this via Facebook last night...
"Sad news for the model sub guys, Ian Lawrence died on Tuesday at the age of 62 after a short battle with the big "C".
For those that didnt know him, Ian was probably the leading authority on the construction of WW2 U-Boats, and his knowledge was encyclopedic. His input to my own boats was invaluable and I could not be doing what I am doing without his help. When it is finished my type IX will be dedicated to his memory.
Rest in peace, old friend, until we meet again."
