Post  MjamesB Tue May 01, 2018 2:07 pm

    Hello and Good Afternoon.
I have just joined and as a New Member wonder if anyone can help me with the following
(Apologies if its been done before but please indulge me as a Newbie)
I am looking to build a Model of an O Class Submarine (Ocelot would be natural but Oberon or others)
and I am looking for some O Class plans. Can anyone advise me the best place to obtain them or perhaps someone
has some I can purchase. (Internal detail is not required, just external shape details etc.)
Also if possible can anyone advise the differences if any between RN O Class and Canadian, Australian, Brazilian and Chile vessels (ie different shape of Sonar nose? )
Colors and marking details (if any the all seem Black ?)
Any other O class information would be very helpful.
    Many thanks and best regards

    Mel

    Hi Mel,

I have had a quick look around for you. (I'm no expert on O class boats - far too modern for me!)

    - John Lambert plans - he didn't do this one.

    - My favourite book? (RN submarines 1901 -1982) (Too modern for this book.)

    - Quite a lot of posts over on the SubCommittee forum with some reference to Canadian variants. (You need to be a member but it is not expensive.) http://subcommittee.com/forum/forum.php

    - A nice photo on this forum and you could maybe try contacting "Retrocentral" (We can help if you have problems.)

Some commercial hulls - OTW definitely. http://www.otwdesigns.com/products/british-submarines/o-class/

A rather rare model which is surprising for such an attractive boat. I have never seen one "on the pond"in the UK.

The 1:1 version had a big world following. I have seen them in Barrow, Sydney and Birkenhead!

    Good luck,

    David

PS Mel, I've moved this topic to Submarine plans/drawings. Hope this is OK.
