    More than likely a silly question...does anyone know if X craft would have carried running/navigation lights?

    pretty sure they did not, but I seem to recall they did have a signal lantern.

    Yes, I believe you're right...I seem to remember seeing a picture of a crewman, maybe the skipper, standing on deck and holding a signal lamp.
