    The Skipjack... Empty The Skipjack...

    Post  Tom(ADMIN) Mon Mar 04, 2013 8:03 pm

Gentlemen, due to my health problems getting worse, I'm selling the Skipjack.

It's not that I can't finish building it, I probably could over time, but I won't be able to lift it or use it when it is done. My arms are so weak now, and I'm beginning to lose the use of my legs as well, so the future doesn't look good.

So, if anyone is interested in buying the Skipjack, the module as built by Ron especially for it, all the brand new electronics and radio equipment I bought for it...the whole lot, then I'm open to offers on it. I've thrown a lot of money at the boat, I reckon it stands me for around £400 as it is. I bought everything brand new for it, and it's all top stuff.

I would like to say a big thank you to all for your patience with me, it's been fun building it as far as I've got.

Hi Richard so sorry to here this news mate i hope you would reconsider selling it
i know how you feel when my dad was diagnosed with his illness he felt like giving up my dad was full of aneurysms of the main aorta and a enlarged artery in the brain which caused a loss of memory and balance problems
this is not very helpful when trying to fly planes always worried about failling into a running engine and getting dizzy when flying but the lads at are flying club helped him a lot starting engines and just been close by when flying and ready to help straight away.
i feel there is two parts to this hobby building been number 1 and sailing in are case being number 2 i know many people that just loved building and i ended up flying them for them.
my dad kept building right to the end building a supermarine float plane until he passed away in 2007.
the other thing he enjoyed was helping others sort out there planes much like your self help others on the AMS forum with out the knolege that people like your self and others on the forum are hobby would struggle
i have always tought others to to fly models all for free for 25 years and this makes this hobby so great

sorry to go on a bit thinking of you at this tough time
(anyway with no building going on there is only so much MOTO GP and F1 we can watch)

    take care geof

The Skipjack will be staying with me. I can't promise when I'll get onto it, but I will...how's that?

    Well, chaps...there's things afoot.

Ron has very kindly offered to make me a smaller module for the Skipjack, with a single central piston tank instead of two which I have now. Now that will be a lot of weight lost and should make the boat a lot easier to move, which is exactly what I need.

    Stand by for further news...

It will be a long old slog, Geoff, but I have plenty of time on my hands. An hour a day..an hour a week, it doesn't really matter, I'll get there eventually.
