    An interesting article here describing The French Grodin sub built by Rene Lefevre.  Interesting construction - all metal.
    The Naiades were interesting in that they were the first use of electric propulsion motors in combination with i/c engines. (The Hollands??)
    Rene uses a central ballast tank emptied by butane gas. He uses  a pendulum type level controller.
