Hi Tom,
Here is an OTW WTC that was shipped from the UK, inside of a sub hull.It was not shipped from OTW.
OTW uses acrylic tubes. I'm building a replacent WTC out of polycarbonate, a much more durable material and more shatter-proof. OTW does design an otherwise excellent WTC.Maybe they can be offered in polycarbonate?

Ooouch! Nice wtc minus the broken area.
I also saw a post by Richard about a build he was doing and had motors placed in a small acrylic wtc and while eating dinner it made a loud ban and was broken. I saw, somewhere, a statement that acrylic will crack, but polycarbonate with shatter.
So, that being said, why are people using acrylic? Is it worth the risk or does the breaking happen so infrequently that it is still considered because of cost? The cost for acrylics is half (or more) than polycarbonate.
Thoughts? Please know your thoughts are going to help me build my first wtc! So please speak up! I want to be "most cost effective", but still be smart about it.

Acrylic is less expensive in the UK but not so much here.
Call this vender for the best quotes over the phone. Sometimes they have remnants for a lower price.Polycarbonate machines better, too.

I much prefer polycarbonate, if I can get it.

For the ends of your wtc do you use the same or different material? How thick is your caps at each end?

If you want clear use polycarbonate,or not use CPVC grey.
Both machine well, CPVC better.
Thickness depends on what design and size o-rings.
Maybe 1/4" or more.
