    Hi All,

General video of the Norwich pond and a very nice target!

    https://youtu.be/3lI6w7dFymw

Another really good weekend courtesy of Norwich Model Boat Club and Paul Cook. (Paul sailed has magnificent Gato) Exceptionally good weather and a nice clear pond.

In this video snippet of his sub diving  Martin explains his really nice, scratch built Japanese midget sub. My favourite for the weekend. Contra rotating props! If you could explain more about this sub on here, Martin (if you are looking in) , or point towards any articles. That would be great. Could I suggest an article for the "SubCommittee magazine?

Seems that the anti-weed installation that was installed works well David?

It certainly seems to have done, Bart!

It is an ultrasonic one and Paul C says that they are now going to clear any remaining weed out.

(I spotted quite a large shoal of gold fish (unwanted showground prizes??)which don't seem to be affected by ultrasound?!)

I will get back to editing the photos.

Glad you liked my Jap sub David the photos look good.
I'll do a little piece shortly giving some background and some details on building the gearbox for the contra rotating props.
The story behide this sub is not well know but very interesting and the reason for the build. If you've got some time check this film out ;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc4hqr78psI

I enjoyed that brief piece on a WARD crewman. Particularly nice to see an American adult not blubber all over the interviewers microphone during his reflections on events long past. How nice not to be subjected to someone's bemoaning the tragic loss of ENEMY lives. From what I saw in that video was a stand-up guy who killed the enemy and went on about his business. That piece a striking and bold divergence from today's crop of crying, blubbering 'remembrance' interviewees.

Since when did it become fashionable for men to cry in public? An embarrassing and disgusting practice.

Here's a photo-essay on another Type-A model project for you, hooper:

    Hi Martin,

Very pleased to hear from you. A most impressive project modelling this rather rare submarine.

(I see that someone has just posted some information about another high-speed Japanese WW2 sub on the AMS Facebook site.)

Very good to see something rather different.

I have now had a chance to follow up on the videos etc. Thank you! I have learnt a lot.

    So it would seem that:

    - Japanese midget submarines were more successful than previously thought. (Competition for the X craft in world history?)

    - I had always read that there was nothing faster underwater  than the British R Class of WW1 until the German Type XX1 of WW2. It seems that the Japanese high speed submarines should be inserted between these?

    Thanks,

    David

P.S I occurs to me that we are going a little off topic. Perhaps we need a section on Japanese submarines??
