Hi guys new to this site and new to subs. some of you may recognize my name from the plane world where I have been building, designing and flying R/C planes for 40 yrs now. but due to harder to find fields for large planes (i like to build in 1/4 and 1/3 scale sizes) and having a 4 yr old and 6 yr old grandsons, boats and subs looks lot more appealing to me and will allow me to let the younguns play with me too as they like driving my 1 premade boat.

I only like to scratch build as 1) most kits etc I have to replace half the the wood and parts anyways 2) means you usually have to fork out a ton of cash up front (which cant always do) 3) finally I get the awesome pleasure of designing and building myself which is what I enjoy the most

so from r/c groups one of the guys suggested this site plus sent a link to a fairly decent set of Type VII U-Boat and then I can actually lay mines at the pond and maybe sink some ships
