      Transporting Trolley Empty Transporting Trolley

Post  Peter Webster Tue Aug 11, 2015 10:54 am

      Hi,
I am looking for ideas for a 3 or 4 wheeled trolley to take my models from the car to the lakeside. I'm not after a launching trolley, just a car to lake trolley. I would like it to take a 6ft Graf Zeppelin aircraft carrier and an Engel type IX U boat. Can someone help me or point me in the right direction. I can weld up a frame if need be, or convert a cheap golf buggy.
The reasons for this are mainly health and lifting restrictions.
      Thanks in advance.

mine is a simple "little red wagon", aka "radio flyer" it will move my 65lb "Mr. Darby" four foot long tugboat with no problems. something like this: http://www.harborfreight.com/bigfoot-panel-wagon-60570.html mine doesn't have the wooden panels, but it does have the big balloon tires.

That's a nice idea from Tim.
(By the way, I have just received the camcorder mount which Tim suggested, it's very useful: https://www.theassociationofmodelsubmariners.com/t1561-camcorder-mount-to-transmitter)

If Peter is from the UK then a very quick check on Machine Mart reveals the following trolleys (among several)

      https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/gt-2-towable-drop-sided-garden-trolley

I note that David J has a home made narrower trolley for his larger subs which may fit better in a car than the commercial ones.

If you do wish to build your own trolley, I see that Machine Mart also sell wheels separately.

I only build subs that I can comfortably carry (at the moment!)

(I have moved this thread through to General Questions. Hope this is OK Peter.)

      David
