The AMS has recently been in consultation with the UKRCC (now looked after by the BMFA) and they confirm that the 458/459 MHz band is legal for R/C using the openLRS software.
Our opinion was that they seem to be very much "on the ball"!
They are well aware of the equipment problems with 40Mhz and that 2.4 GHz is of no use to model submariners.
We have proposed to them (to ease the equipment supply problem) that they consider allowing the sharing of 35Mhz with surface users. (Possibly by allocating certain frequencies within this band.)
We await results, so in the mean time sub modellers will need to continue using a (diminishing) supply of 27Mhz or 40Mhz equipment or consider moving into the (still fairly experimental ) area of 458/9 Mhz.
