OTW S class Empty OTW S class

Post  ex docky Mon May 28, 2012 8:03 pm

    Hi,

I am building an OTW S class sub

Could anyone help me with colour codes/schemes. The only photos I have are in black and white!
I quite fancy the "camouflage scheme" as used either in the med or the far east I believe.

The scheme with the diagonal stripes over the casing.

Also just in case what "grey" schemes were used.

    Thanks
    Ex Docky

OTW S class Empty S class colour schemes

My records show S class subs were all dark grey or plack post WWII, Mid grey pre war and when launched, Brown for Atlantic patrol areas and sometimes green for far east station. Hazard camoflage (patches) were used for Norway/Russian patrol areas.
The paint was changed at refits depending on the patrol area and what paint was in the stores.
When choosing a boat to model you need to research the patrol area and time as changes were made during the life of a boat, improved radar etc.
    Hope this helps

Hi would S class boats have an anti fouling paint beneath the waterline?
