Smoothed off cone after being turned in lathe,ready for tin plate to be attached.

First two row's of plating attached with impact adhesive, then soldered together.
The rivet effect is obtained with a rounded off centre punch.

Plating the centre section,first row of plates are glued on with impact adesive to keep them in place.

Fist row of plates complete notice the marked line on each plate this is to aid fitting the second row of plates on the centre line,first of the second row of plates shown with the rivet details,the second row is NOT glued each end is soldered to the first row.

Close up of the first and second row of plates with the soldered joint, the plates are made of tin plate. I find old gallon cans to be good for this, this is an old paint stripper can.

First rows completed, the next rows are now tack soldered in place. These need to overlap about on eighth of an inch.

First plate on the last row. These plates have rivet details all the way round the edges of them, this is done with a spring loaded centre punch with the point rounded off.

Plating finished, ready to solder all the joints. I use a solder station to do this, normally I use the hot air,but on this occasion I used the iron as I have used a perspex core for the centre section and I was concerned that it might get too hot.
