Another fascinating snippet from Hein Kistenich. (I think that the British carried on running with hydrogen peroxide technology including launching a satellite (Black Arrow)):
"Hellmuth Walter – German Engineer.
A few interesting words notes about Hellmuth Walter, inventor and designer from Kiel.
The V 300, (V = attempt, 300 = tons) is one of many submarine designs from Helmut Walter and should run with H²O² (hydrogen peroxide) propulsion.
The STINT civilian deep diving submarine was also projected designed there in 1967. Propulsion: H²O². Both original boats were not built.
After the Second World War his factory was placed under British control and in October 1946 Walter and some of his employees were taken to Barrow in Furness to continue working on the Walter drive.
In 1949 he returned to Germany and the factory was handed back to his management. But a few months later he moved to the USA. There he worked at the Worthington Corporation."
