    32nd Parallel Type XX111 Empty 32nd Parallel Type XX111

This article was first published in the Jan/Feb issue of Scale Ship Modeller magazine, way back in 1987. Written by Simon Smith of the now defunct 32nd Parallel company, it details the design and construction of the Type XX111 kit, and makes for a fascinating read.

No worries, Tom... I'll do it first thing in the morning for you. I'll need your email address, I don't keep them on record any longer.

    Very interesting article, Richard.
The trials and tribulations of a commercial venture!
Do we know why they disappeared? (The clue may be in the 2 years and 3 production prototypes - they would need an understanding Bank Manager!)

Don't quote me on this, David...but I believe illness to one of the partners played a large part in 32nd Parallel's demise.

It's a tough business -- one accident/illness away from folding. Even a short bout of flu can set you back months.

I don't envy you guys at all. One slip with a knife, a trip in the workshop, a bad back...financial disaster looms.

But, then again, we enjoy the job we embrace as a hobby. We work our own hours, and we are lord and master of the work-space. We live or die by our own hands.

The perfect working arrangement for those who, 'don't play well with the other children'.
