Hi All,
I have been passed the following email:
(Please contact me initially and I will put you in touch.)
David
Malcolm C has asked me if I might know someone who can put together a model of a WWI 'T' Class Submarine which is to go to Bordeaux to be part of the Displays at the Frankton Souvenir Museum - recognising the part played by HMS TUNA in delivering the Cockle Shell Heroes to the River Gironde in 1942 as their part in Operation Frankton.
I understand that the Model has already been bought - from modelsbydesign_boats.aspx - it is a model of a Group 3 'T' Class on a design by John Darnell of Leaveston. The model cost some £245.
The kit includes the hull, the casing, the conning tower, rudder and hydroplanes, the gun shield and a drawing.
If there is someone that you know who would be willing to put the model together - ideally without charge - Malcolm and the rest of the Frankton Souvenir team would be eternally grateful. If yes - I will find out where the model is and arrange get it up to Barrow. How to get the completed model across to France is something Malcolm can sort out with the Royal Marines Association and the SBS Association
Further information has come to light that they want little replica canoes, a gun barrel extension and a couple of other things to mimic Tuna's modifications for the mission. They want the sub ready to display in France by March 2013.
