Good that they are doing it as a kit - I've only ever heard of one model before.

Re: OTW(On The Water) Surcouf...
There are 2 Surcoufs that I know of up here in Edinburgh. Don't know who manufactured the hulls though. I came across the new OTW one when I was browsing (unsuccessfully) for an 'Astute' hull the other day. 'Surcouf' is a bit large for me these days but it does look great and will undoubtedly make a great model. It's still small compared to my Eden 'Los Angeles' at 104" though! And that to quote David F has become yet another 'shelf model'. Albeit on the garage shelf.

Re: OTW(On The Water) Surcouf...
Yes that must have been rather bad.
I've read accounts by people on battleships who describe broken crockery, portholes etc. when the main armament fired. Probably a lot worse on submarines.
The full size monitor seemed to be a rather crazy idea, by all accounts, but they make lovely models.

Re: OTW(On The Water) Surcouf...
I've seen a picture somewhere of one of the American 'Iowa' class battleships firing a full broadside...apparently the whole boat moved over 100 yards away from the direction of fire!

Re: OTW(On The Water) Surcouf...
Bernie had one that had been made by Maurice Rickett, Bernie used his old system but in her but using compressed air that was stored in an old soda stream air bottle and not Freon gas, she all so had working gun’s made by Nick, not long after finishing her he sold her to Chris (I think that is he’s name), Chris did bring it down to Horsham one Sunday and sailed it on the Southwater lake, and it went very well, Chris was all so in to the Caterham Seven car,.
Would love to see that Boat again.

I remember the one Bernie had, Fred, but I didn't know Maurice Rickett made it...I had the idea that Nick Burge made the moulds.
That Chris you mentioned...that's not Chris from Sheerline, is it?
Whoever/whatever, it was a monster of a boat. I have a pic of it somewhere.

Hi Dick
No I do not think it is Chris of Sheerling, this Chris moved down to Kent some 10 + years ago, he was with the Caterham 7 club at the time.
