My dad served on the USS Pickrel. I'd like to get him a model already made for Christmas but am having no luck finding any. I figured I'm looking in the wrong places maybe. Could anyone offer any helpful suggestions? I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Information/want to buy
Hi,
You need to give more information, really.
Are you looking for a sub to go on the bookshelf (e.g plastic kit or a resin model (resin models can be quite expensive.) Does it need to be the USS Pickerel? (Which Wikipedia tells me was a Tench class diesel electric.)
Or something which actually works. Much more difficult (this Forum awaits!) and almost impossible for Christmas!
If it is just fun for the swimming pool or aquarium something like this may do the trick (and you should get it for Christmas.)

I have seen similar ones being operated at our sub meetings and I'm very impressed by what the designers have achieved (and which takes we "amateurs" many years and lots more cash!)
