(A slightly edited version of this newsletter went out to registered members about 10 days ago.)
Hi All,
Just to let you know that the AMS website (http://associationofmodelsubmariners.com/) has been given a small overhaul with the addition of some new sections.
The main one of these is the inclusion of all the copies of the AMS "In Depth" magazine from 1983 to 2011.
They are a fun read - sometimes unconsciously funny, knowing what we know now! But they do show the development of the technology of model submarines. For example, have a look at series of articles by Nick Burge in the 1990's. Now familiar concepts, such as the WTC are given a (first?) airing.
The book reviews are particularly useful for research. Abe Books can now find you secondhand copies of these for not much money.
Our thanks to everyone's contributions over the years and our particular thanks to Bill and Tom (For all the scanning and OCR'ring respectively.)
The AMS website now has sections to store files e.g software and you will see a growing section of software for projects (Arduino etc.) and openLRS.
A couple of other things:
- Don't forget the AMS stand at Haydock Park in August if you are interested in displaying your model handiwork. (Contact David Forrest)
- The sub events season is starting to "kick-off" over the next few months e.g Bournville, Alfold and Norwich. Keep an eye on the events section of the Forum.
Have a good Summer!

P.S If you want to identify David Forrest at events he has let it be known that this year "He will be mainly sailing an old (Graham's dads) Darnell Type XXI!
