It is, Tim...they were what you can really say were "The good old days". The things we got up to back then would be banned nowadays...firing torpedoes and corvettes with exploding depth charges at shows with the public less than a foot away would get us locked up now!

    Dick

Do you remember on a Sunday afternoon when Dave Bishop stopped us all from sailing and we had to turn off all our radios, so that the guy's from Holland could fly there pulsejet, and at the end of there display they used to put the jet into a stall so that they could land the thing, all of us from the AMS with Berne in the lead used to shout out "O F##K its going to crash" I know not the thing to do with young Kids about.

Then the year they was informed that they must not fly near the house , as the mare was in foal and low and behold it went over the house,

The thing with Dave Bishop was that he run a good Show, if you were selling food or drink at any of his shows then god help them if they tried to sell it for more than it cost if you purchased the same ting out side of the show.

For Berne he always set up the pool next to the Bar.

Yes we need more of this type of show a show for the Family

I do indeed remember that pulse jet, Fred...by heck, was it ever noisy! And fast! I wonder if that mare ever produced a foal that wasn't deaf...

One year the jet got into trouble and landed on the railway lines, remember that? It caused a bit of a panic, but they got it back without the trains being stopped or anyone in the railway company ever knowing about it.

Dave Bishop really could run a good show, his commentaries were always comical, weren't they? He was still about recently, I think he was at Wings n' Wheels a couple of years back.

That pool used to edge closer and closer to the bar every year, by the last show it was almost in the bar door...three steps from the pool to the bar, Bernie's idea of heaven!

I must upload the footage of Bernie coming out of the bar at Gosport, tripping over those bloody silly flower pots they put there, and performing the best part of a somersault without spilling a drop of his beer! That was really comical, how he did that I'll never know.

I miss those shows...they don't make 'em like that any more.

Yes they were great shows, alias I did not start doing the shows until the 1990's I did one Gosport show with Berine and the Feltons got the short end of his tongue, when Karen took one of the panels out, to let the water out of the pool, and the water sent all the tables toward the sea. Dave Austin's boy got a broken toe when he got sent flying by the water.
When I started sorting out the shows, The only one's that Berine found the bar at was RAF Holton and that was due to it being in the small flying club. and the MEE.

As you said we could fill up the forum with stories about Berine

Maybe we should have a "reminisce" topic, Fred...tales from the old days sort of thing. Problem is, all the youngsters wouldn't have a clue what we were on about!

Maybe I'll have a word with our Esteemed Chairman, see what he thinks about it. All us old farts would make sense of it Fred, but as for our members in foreign parts and the youngsters, they would be totally confused by it all!
